Mandarin

We were so very lucky and had Yú Tíng (Rebecca) come into Room 3 on Thursday to share information about China.
We learnt some of her language as well - it is called Mandarin. We looked at different foods, places, colours, and even learnt how to say panda bear in Mandarin which is pronounced like 'shong maow'. We love learning about different cultures and languages in Room 3.

Favourite Activity:
By Ethan Kerr

At camp we went on the slide. The slide is really fun but scary. At the top I felt scared to go down because I saw other people going down and it looked extremely fast. There are two adults at the bottom to catch you. There is a bank at the bottom which is why you need to put your arms out. All of the kids went on the slide this year and it’s really awesome.

Buddy Reading

On Thursdays we go to buddy reading with Room 16 and we read books to them from our class library.

This week before buddy reading we made our own books for our buddies out of cardboard and paper. We like to read to them on the playground when it’s sunny. They are very good at reading. Some of us have little sisters and brothers in Room 16. We try to teach our buddies things when we read to them. We also try to show them how to make the right choices by being good role models.

First week back

Last week we were back into the swing of things after the Christmas holidays and we all started school on Tuesday. There are 26 children in Room 3 with both Year 5 and 6s. We are looking forward to a fabulous year, and we hope you look at our blog often so you can see the things we have been doing.  We will upload things to our blog that we have been learning in Room 3 as well as things we do outside of the classroom like sports, camp, jump jam, singing, class/syndicate trips and so much more. Keep watching this space and more things will be coming up this month.
